Bored Kids, Published Mom

another filled weekend has gone by, no rest for the weary deary!!!!
for the first time since i've been homeschooling we finished in a summer month. i thought that was cool that the kids would actually have a break during the summer. they are bored!!!
they keep asking me when their new curriculum is coming so they can do schoolwork...
drew was soooo excited when the ups man stopped in front of our house, he was sure it was his new curriculum, but it wasn't. it was a box for me, from memory makers magazine! now some of you may know that i was having problems with getting that layout published, with the model release form and the mom of the kid in the photo and with us living on totally opposite sides of u.s. i finally gave up hope of getting that layout published. looking at the box, i refused to let myself get excited. so i'm thinking, since they were once considering publishing the layout, maybe they just forgot to remove me from the list of people to get the freebies, i opened the box, and there was paper, fiber, stickers, a puncher, etc...and then....there it was, a magazine at the bottom of the box. still not able to get excited, i just figured they just send a complimentary copy with the scrapbook freebies. so i open it and turn to the page where they have a map of the u.s. with the names of the published...and my name was there!!!! ok-just a little excited now. i start flippin' through the pages looking for the layout and smack dab on page 28 is the layout! I AM PUBLISHED!!!!!!! my very first published layout!!!!!!!
when i was done freaking out my kids i called jay to tell him and he was just as surprised as i was! i was just so certain that the layout would not be in this magazine. it's not a great layout, in fact i was just starting out when i did it. but i think one of the reasons i submitted it is because it was simple and it looked like a paper layout. when i first got the call, i informed them that the layout was digital and they were really surprised by that- i was surprised they didn't know cuz, when i submitted i stated that i used psp to create it.
so, today i am very thankful to have a layout in print...maybe drew will get his school work tomorrow?

Congrats, Lisa! I love seeing people I know in magazines. ;) Too funny about Drew getting excited about the UPS man stopping at your house. You must be doing a great job with your homeschooling!
