the kids and i have been baking for the last two days. i awoke yesterday morning at 6:30am and ready to bake. each of the three older children had laid claim on the cookies they wanted to bake so i told them the night before that which ever one of them got up fi
rst, we would bake their cookie first. so devyn was up first and we made my favorite and hers, thumbprints!! and this year i found hershey kisses with a peanut butter filling- yum! i am definately a peanut butter lover and almost finished all of the candy before making the cookies! fortunately i had an extra stash of the regular kind on hand! next, in the afternoon, drew and i made ginger snaps. as soon as i opened the jar of molasses, it tickled my nose and touched my stomach as memories of my childhood came rushing back to my brain. no, not memories of baking with my mom, they were not that happy. memories of having to drink a concoction she gave me. goat milk and molasses. why? i don't remember, but i think the goat milk was the thing i was supposed to be getting and the molasses was supposed to sweeten it? it was still nasty at any rate! ugh. so today was camryn's turn. she and i made candy cane cookies. i call them shabby canes because they look pink and white instead of red. more food coloring next time.drew's movie 'the chronicles of narnia' was released today. he has been counting the days! so this evening i talked jay into taking him and he really enjoyed it. he has been reading the series over and over again for years. i am glad he finally got to see it on the screen- i forgot to ask him which he thought was better. i have yet to read the books myself, but i do plan to see the movie soon. all for now.
i started this blog entry over 6 hours ago! other things kinda took over, hahaha!

The cookies look wonderful! Wish I could steal some right off the 'puter screen! Love the idea of doing a special cookie with each child. I have a couple of friends coming over next week with their kids and we are having a cookie making party. It's the first time we have tried this and I can't wait!
Lisa...they look SO good!!!! My mouth is watering. :)
You put me in the baking mood...uh oh.....:)
I WANT ONE OF THOSE COOKIES!!! They are so beautiful. I'm going to bake some more things soon! I'm glad you've been getting to spend some fun time with your kids. They'll never forget these times with you.
We're going to go see the Narnia movie soon. They acted out the story over a matter of weeks for the kids at our church. They got to go to an advanced movie screening but we couldn't go because we were booked that night!
