shhhhh....
ok. so i just had to get two things out here while they are fresh in my mind.
the first is that devyn lost another tooth last night...actually her awana leader yanked it (but i guess devyn is ok with that since this is the second time she has let her do it.) the toothfairy at our house is very generous. she got $5!!! my toothfairy only left me quarters! when i grew up and became the toothfairy not only was i not very generous, i got my toothfairy license revoked. i happily gave my magic wand to jay. this is why: when camryn lost her last tooth, jay asked me to take care of it since i was the one who stays up all night, i could do it before going to bed. well, i forgot. of course camryn was very disappointed in the morning. i told her that maybe she just didn't have it completely under her pillow or something. the next night, the same thing happened. i went to bed and forgot the tooth. another disappointment. sadly, that was not the last night i let my daughter down. since i could not get it together, on the third morning i told her the truth. she is eight. mommy is the toothfairy and mommy forgot your tooth. i'm sorry. here is $5.00. i really wanted to say what i was feeling. mommy is bad. incompetent. i don't deserve to be your mommy, i can't even do the toothfairy right. but then again, i really don't like lying to them about such things as the toothfairy, santa claus, the easter bunny. i guess i just don't have the imagination for it. i guess i am just not a very fun mom. but that's another post. anyway, jay came up with the perfect solution since he is not one for waiting for the kids to fall asleep so he can sneak around. last night he took devyn's tooth and put it into our tooth box, on a bed of a cotton ball (which is why she could not hear the tooth when she shook the box). and it was taped shut to assure that the tooth would not fall out. that's the story he gave her anyway. what he really did was put the tooth away, folded and put the $5 in the box and taped it shut so she would not open it and see the money. ain't my man evah so clevah? she opened the box this morning, found the money, still believes in the toothfairy, and all is well in her blissful world...camryn just came over and whispered to me, "mom, did you give her the $5?" i told her it was dad this time. ;)
a little part of me feels like i robbed her of a little bit of that bliss that devyn is feeling. i said only a little part. i have to be honest, the other part is relieved to not have to play that game with her. here's a funny story. i have a friend that was forced to tell her 6 year old daughter that she was the toothfairy. her daughter lost a tooth, and at bed time put the tooth beneath her pillow to wait for the toothfairy. but in her mind, that was not a good thing. my friend awoke to the sound of her daughter sobbing because she was afraid to think that some 'fairy' that she did not know, had never seen before, was going to be sneaking around her room while she was sleeping! um, ya. that would spook me too. she would not stop crying until my friend confessed that SHE was the toothfairy and gave her the money!
ok. that ran long so the other thing i wanted to share was an answer to shannon's question about the book. sorry it's gotta wait until later :(
33 Ways to Love Your LoverMP readers share secrets for revving up romance:

Get your spouse's pajamas out and lay them on the bed
Leave a favorite snack on the seat of your spouse's car.
Compliment your mate in front of friends or family. he would be embarrassed!
Light a candle in the bedroom. he'd blow it out for fear i'd fall asleep and forget to
Put down everything to greet your spouse at the end of the day. i do this already ;)
Fill the gas tank in your mate's car—as a surprise. good one! he would appreciate that
Light candles with dinner again, 6 kids!!!
Make a snack for both of you before bedtime. we have a bowl of ice cream together regularly
Turn your socks right-side out before throwing them in the hamper. huh?!!
Be adventurous—meet for lunch at an ethnic restaurant you've never tried. tried this...it was so hard! i REALLY don't care for thai food, but did it anyway cause we wanted to try something new. he thinks i didn't give it a chance...i think he is lucky i made it through the meal!
Choose a novel, then read it out loud to each other in the evenings.
Rent a movie you watched during your courtship days can't think of a movie we both liked during dating, but we watched beverly hills 90210 every wednesday night!
Buy an "I Love You" card and mail it to your spouse at work. hmmm, will an email count?
Make plans to re-create your first date. that would be fun, but kinda impossible at the moment...
When the dryer buzzes, instead of looking at your mate, volunteer to fold the clothes oh, this one must be geared towards him...
When one of you is indoors and the other outside, knock on the window and blow a kiss. lol!
Don't put away stuff your spouse might want left out. i always ask first
When you're finished driving, put the seat back to your mate's preferred position
Hold hands instead of holding the remote control we don't watch television...that must be the reason why we have 6 kids!!
On cold mornings, go ahead and bring in the newspaper.
Kiss at stoplights rotfl!!!
Hide love notes around the house where your spouse will find them. or slip a note in his pocket for him to find later in the day ;)
When you disagree, always acknowledge the possibility that you could be wrong.
When stopping for gas while traveling, buy a treat for your partner without buying anything for yourself
Next time you shop for clothes, let your spouse vote on an outfit. i never get anything more than a "it looks okay"
Get involved in a new ministry together
Shower together and wash your spouse's back. did i mention that he get's up at 5am and 6 on the weekends?
When your mate lies down on the couch, get him or her a pillow.

I could not resist

gina cabrera is having a one day sale! and when gina has a sale, i am there!! i bought all of this great stuff!
i spent most of the morning on the computer. i know. i know. i was orrrrganizing though, i count that as productiveness! i was getting rid of extra files and setting up kits and papers so that i can see everything with just one click, instead of clicking on a file, and then another, and sometimes another just to get to my papers...that can get to be very irritating after a while, so i needed to simplify to make my workflow easier. i also have files with paper packs separate from the alphas and/or elements, so i put those together too. i did not get to every kit i wanted to though, there are just waaaay too many but i did do quite a bit!
i am in the second chapter this book now and i am seeing a problem here...maybe if i keep reading this will be cleared up...
today is jay's birthday so we went to the party store and got a balloon bouquet and a few other things for later tonight and went to meet him for lunch. the kids were so excited about going to jay's new place of work. so they got to see daddy's office and cam was so proud to see her drawings on daddy's desk!
when we got home drew made dad an oreo pie, and now the kids are running around to decorate the house with streamers and balloons before daddy gets here. he jsut called me from his cell phone and is on his way, so i better go help them to speed things along...

going to bed now to read some more of messy spirituality...

this is what sits on my desk during the day...just waiting for good little children to go to. you wouldn't believe (or maybe you might) how many times i am approached with flashcards, or bible verses, or "is there anything i can do for you mom?"!
this tub of jelly beans is also known as "the stash". when we play the trouble game, it's for "stash". although they like to win the game AND the "stash" outright, they still win in the end, because i don't really like the jellybeans and i share, only keeping the buttered popcorn and bubblegum ones to myself. this way, everyone's happy.
the kids and i have been running around all day trying to get daddy's birthday presents for tomorrow. i never realized that tie tacks were so hard to find...
picked up the book messy spirituality, so far it's interesting. i could have written that first page myself!
what is the deal with the weather?!!! it's super hot today- like 99 degrees or something...i'll have to look up the weather today and let you know what it really was, but it sure feels like the upper 90's!
my honeysuckle tart is divine! i love it! while i was searching for a tealight, i stumbled upon a fresh cut roses tart that someone gave me a couple of years ago. i took one whiff and remembered why it was hidden...
more later!
ok shannon and gina have been talking about candles and so i went out and bought me a couple of tarts for starters...it's been quite a while since i treated myself to a yankee candle. my friend taina and i stood there and sniffed about 50 jars! the granny smith was so potent it brought me to tears! some made me hungry and one reminded me of sweet summertimes in georgia- the sweet honeysuckle. so i got that one and clean cotton, cause it just smelled...clean! i'll be burning the honeysuckle tomorrow first thing!
i am going to be published in an austrailian scrapbook magazine! that is, if i finish all they want me to do in time...there is a little extra than just giving them the layout and credits going on here, and i hope i can get it all done!

here is my little monster when he was sick last weekend. he really had a rough time, and it was hard for me as well, him crying and not knowing what he was wanting. at times he probably didn't even know himself!
okay off to my bed!

Hey Now!
last night was the kid's science fair. i took dew, cam, devyn, and keith and i am glad we went. i was thinking our project was kinda lame, (only because i had very little notice- a week before!) but the kids enjoyed it and liked seeing all of the other projects- some were really very interesting! there were lots of parents who were presenting the projects like they had done them themselves! we came home to a quiet house, deacon and carter both asleep by 8pm! yay dad!
i went to bed early myself...early for me anyway. midnight. i was really tired too. i love going to bed tired, cause then i know that i won't just lie there awake, with a million things running through my head. so when i am so tired i can hardly see straight, i know i can fall asleep as soon as i snuggle in, and sleep GOOD. and GOOD sleep it is, until i am awaken at 4am! i can deal with almost anything, but broken sleep just irritates me to NO end! deacon still wakes up in the middle of the night and comes crawling into my bed, and normally i would just open up the covers and welcome him in and go right back to sleep. only if i did that, i would surely find myself lying in a puddle of wetness come sunrise! so i have to get up, take him to the bathroom, and then put him back in his bed as i think the reason he wakes up in the first place is because he has to use the bathroom, not because he woke up and wanted to be with me. so then i get back in bed, and just lie there for a good 15 minutes, if not longer. then carter wakes up crying, for no reason. i hold him, rock him a little, hush him and lay him down again in his bed, then go back to bed. he got up again, (oh ya! he can open doors now) and i hear him going down the hall towards the kitchen. i get up again and find him waiting for me at the refrigerator. he wants milk. i oblige, and by this time dad is up and in the shower getting ready for work. the noise of him getting ready peaks carter's curiousity and i'm thinking he'll never get back to sleep. which also means i won't either. and it's 5am. it's these times i ask myself if i should go back to bed or just get up. of course i'm lazy and choose bed cause it's warm and cozy, and then lay there until 7. with a million things running through my head...
more upbeat news, i have been tagged by miranda and gina-thanks girls!

sick...
body aches, chills, tummy ache...ugh! by nightfall, drew fell to it, throwing up as well. before midnight, i awoke to devyn crying hysterically because her head and tummy hurt. fortunately, the three of us were all feeling a bit better by today, but carter still has his diarrhea and i had thought he was over his throwing up, but he just did it again tonight so i guess his is just going a little longer. the rest of the family show no signs of it at all. that's a blessing. i guess i should go get some more rest.. it is actually 11pm, although my blog here says it's much earlier, cause that's when i started typing...i gotta early crop tomorrow!

be careful what you pray for
yesterday morning while praying i felt the need to confess my abuse of my computer time- it seems my computer is on all day. so i asked the Lord to help me to break this addiction, so that i can accomplish the things that i need to and spend time with my kids. amen. well, i told ash that i would help her with her crop and i did, but was having intermitent internet droppings throughout the 2 hours i was in the chatroom...soon after the crop was over i lost internet altogether. nothing i did made it come back. sometimes when this happens i could wiggle or jiggle a cord on the modem, or reset the whole thing to get back to the www. not this time. so i turned off my computer for the rest of the day. tried again at night- still nothing so i (hold onto your chairs ladies) went to bed early!!! and i must admit, my tired body needed that cause i think i might have been asleep before my head even touched the pillow! so that was good. this morning however was not so good. i could not get onto the internet for nothin! i sat here and tried everything i could and was starting to get mad!! now i'm starting to think it may be the cable company that has the problem. so i call up taina, my neighbor to see if her internet is working, and of course it is. i just had to laugh at that point because being upset about it was not going to get me anywhere. i had told her how i had just prayed for help in not spending so much time on the computer. but hey! i didn't mean i wanted to go cold turkey!! she teased me about fighting God's will, but isn't that the way of it? we pray and we ask for things but expect them on OUR terms. and then when things don't go the way WE think it should, we fight it. He gives us what we need in a way that HE knows is best for us- i.e with me, what other way am i going to not be on the computer unless i can't chat, blog, or surf the internet? He knows best!! this has certainly shown me that i really do need to cut back. i spend almost the entire day on the computer. i turn it on when i get up in the morning and every spare moment i have is spent on it. well, i recycled power again and got the internet back the latter part of this morning. and to day, like so many other days, it seems lately i only break away to help the kids with schoolwork, and to make breakfast and lunch. oh, it starts out with me just checking my emails. oh, that will only take about 5 mins, and then i'll do such and such(something that needs doing) well, those emails sometimes have links that take me away from the email site, then one thing leads to another...and i have been sitting at the computer for 2 hours! then i need to check in over at sbb. read over the forums and check the gallery to try to make a few comments...should only take about 20 mins...nope! another hour!! and then here's the killer and i don't know why i do this during the day at all, but i have to go down my blog list. i have a blog list so long that i have them all in my favorites in their own folder called blogs! oh wow! i just counted 78! isn't that ridiculously crazy? i don't comment on them all, but these are the ones i check daily! i'm embarrassed to even admit that! i DO need my internet taken away!! i really have a hard time managing my time on my computer, cause it's not bad enough that i am on it all day, but all night as well...something's gotta give. my time during the day should be for my kids and running our home. my computer time should start at night, but be off by a decent time. i think for me, midnight is good.
who wants to hold me accountable?

What scrapbooking lines/products/etc do you DISlike?
i don't like cartoony looking elements or clip art...
What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to scrap?
i find scrapping other people's photos hard to do because i want them to be loved by the owners.
What technique do you use more than any other?
it varies, but lately i have been using blend modes alot.
Ever been published?
yes! twice! memory makers and simple scrapbooks(digi issue #4)
What’s the smallest scrap of paper you save?
this doesn't apply to digital, but when i paper scrapped if i had less than half of a piece of paper left over it was trash.
Ever have any scrapbooking-related injuries?
other than the crook in my neck from being on the computer all of the time, i almost had heart failure when i was working on a layout and my program froze up before i could save anything...
Give us your best storage or organizational idea.
usually when i buy a kit, i intend to use it at some point so i leave it on my hard drive. after i use it, then i move it to my external hard drive and sort by designer. i'm thinking i need to rethink this strategy as i now have more kits than i can scrap in 3 lifetimes!
You just won a week-long scrapbooking cruise for 4. Who’s going with you?
oh, helen, jayne, and dawn! my roomies!

my kids crack me up...especially devyn lately. one evening while playing the trouble game with her, and whipping me at the time, she says:
"winning is really fun mommy, you should try it sometime"
ha ha! she spoke to soon, and i DID win!!!
another time we were playing the game with drew and camryn, and devyn sent drew home, who at the time looked like he was gonna send me home, and devyn then says:
"mommy!! i just saved your whole entire life!"
ok, now this morning though deacon won the crack mommy up award...
i let him dress himself this morning and he put on carter's clothes! these are 12month clothes, and he is of course, three so when i saw him i just busted up!! he was just so proud of himself that he had done it himself, and i told him that the clothes weren't his, but, he wasn't hearing it.
he's still wearing it...

what's happening today...
keith started kindergarten today and is very excited. and at first, i wished i was as happy about it as he was. i waited on ordering his curriculum until he was of age, unlike the others whom i started when i thought they were ready. he is only a month shy of turning 5, i think keith was ready a long time ago, but i wasn't! adding another child to my school schedule was daunting to say the least. but we got to it and i quicly learned i was correct about him, he already knew everything we went over, he just needs to practice his writing skills for the most part. watching him sitting at the table with pencil and book in hand, my heart started to fill up with excitement for him as he is starting his academic journey into learning... thinking of all of the things he is going to learn...realizing that he is a big boy now. when did that happen?
carter and drew are sick. i knew carter wasn't feeling well, but thought drew was faking sick so he wouldn't have school today. as the morning progressed he continued to not look so hot...great. i hope no one else gets sick.

So True
Tosha's
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared.
He sat and watched the butterfly for
several hours as it struggled to force
its body through that little hole. Then
it seemed to stop making any progress.
It appeared as if it had gotten as far as
it had and it could go no further.
Then the man decided to help the butterfly,
so he took a pair of scissors and
snipped off the remaining bit of the
cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.
But it had a swollen body and small,
shriveled wings. The man continued
to watch the butterfly because he
expected that, at any moment, the
wings would enlarge and expand to
be able to support the body, which
would contract in time. Neither happened!
In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of
its life crawling around with a swollen
body and shriveled wings. It never was
able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste
did not understand was that the
restricting cocoon and the struggle
required for the butterfly to get
through the tiny opening were
God's way of forcing fluid from the
body of the butterfly into its wings so
that it would be ready for flight once
it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly
what we need in our life. If God allowed
us to go through our life without any
obstacles, it would cripple us. We
would not be as strong as what we
could have been.
And we could never fly...(author unknown)
my bible study group met here last night. we are studying the book of James and last night's discussion was about trials and our attitude towards them. i wish i had read Tosha's post earlier so i could share this beautiful insight with my group.
