home goals

i never did post my home goals for the year, but i did say that i wanted to do a room a month.   i didn't want to make a list because i am afraid don't like to commit to lists.  but, i'll give it a go.
january was supposed to be the month to update/reorganize the kitchen.  i did some organizing but i never did finish painting the cabinets.  i think i need another month for that.  right now, the kitchen walls are silver sage by restoration hardware.

and the cabinets are going to be white.  silver sage in my kitchen looks bluish and i do love the look, but in the kitchen?  lately i've been seeing some cabinets painted gray and loving it.  but then again, i think, "why mess with a classic?"  leave the cabinets white and paint the walls a real gray!  so i may be repainting the walls as well as the cabinets.  oh and there's this light fixture that i wanted to put up that i don't have yet...

another thing i haven't gotten around to is putting up beadboard and shelves in the nook area, and i am also trying to find someone to install the solar tube that is sitting in a box on my kitchen floor.
february will be the dining room.  i love well lit rooms but unfortunately my house is dark.  i want to repaint the wall a lighter color.  right now, it's a color called mission hills by behr.  it's only one wall, the room is a living room, dining room combo and the other walls are swiss coffee.  again, i am loving the gray on walls, so i'm thinking a graceful gray by behr lightened up a bit.

i have this color on the walls in the game room and i love it.  it's the only gray i have found so far that does not look blue in certain light.  then again, if i keep silver sage in the kitchen then i will go with pale silver by restoration hardware.
i hate this process of painting!  after painting the dining room wall i would like to build a photo ledge and make a photo wall.  i need a buffet and a mirror in the room as well.  i need a narrow buffet so it may need to be built.  ugh.  and lastly i would like to refinish the dining table and reupholster the seats on the chairs.  february is going to be busy.
march will be the laundry room.  it needs paint, i haven't even thought of a color yet, and i really need something like this
i love it because it's shallow, and wouldn't take too much space away from us to walk through the laundry room to the outside.  i would love to get rid of the upper cabinets above the sink and have open shelving too.  there is a bathroom off the laundry room that we are thinking of nixing(long story).
april will be my bedroom.  change the color of the linens to white just cause i like it.  jay and i stayed in a nice hotel once and the bed had all white linen.  that bed looked so comfy it spoke to me.  it said, "lisa, come lie down. you will never want to leave."  i did and made a note to self to make my own bed look so inviting.  nothing says luxury to me like crisp white sheets.
then on to our closet.  it needs painting and then we have an organizing system that we purchased from ikea over a year ago and never put it together.
i'll stop here at the bedroom and do a re access.  maybe head back into the kitchen and finish those odds and ends?  i have plenty to keep me busy for sure!  don't worry, i have plenty of months and rooms still left to go!
