this is what my fireplace looks like. the brick wall is about 15ft. long with a hearth that is about 12ft long. which means i basically lose an entire wall which really hurts my placement of furniture, but that is neither here nor there and will probably be discussed in another post.
after seeing so many beautifully decorated mantels, i am finding myself on the verge of calling a carpenter to build me one. wwhoa! i know- one thing at a time. i still have not finished the kitchen! in the meantime, i am getting inspired by these lovely mantels:
not to mention the new pottery barn catalog i just got in the mail today. ugh.
christmas is going to kill me because look at what we did here last year:
pathetic, i know, but in my defense, we had just recently moved in a few months before and as much as i wanted a mantel to be there it just wasn't high on my priority list. but the kids HAD to have their stockings up so i turned to 3M. it did the job, it just wasn't pretty. i am hoping that i can come up with another solution by then!
