oh it was WONDERFUL!  i was scrubbed, massaged and pampered all day!

and a slew of other movies.  we don't have cable so we got to see a lot of shows we wouldn't normally be able to see.  we LOVE netflix!

on hold

i went and got myself sick so everything is on hold.  finishing the kitchen this week is not looking good.

next!! (a window seat)

i have d.i.y.a.d.d.(do-it-yourself-attention-deficit-disorder).  i am not even done with the kitchen and i am ready to start a new project!  a window seat for the living room.

we have this niche in the living room with a big picture window.  it's wasted space really.  we tried putting a couch there, but it always butted up against the blinds.  every time we pulled it away from the window, the kids would come in and jump or plop themselves on the couch in a manner that would just push it back up against the window.  so i figure we could put in a window seat like this one

we need the extra storage for blankets and we could still use it for seating.  i am all hyped about this because it seems so doable-how hard can it be to build a box?!!

the one where i was supposed to be painting but i was blogging instead...

i don't know what i was thinking folks.  i guess i was delusional reading all of those diy blogs.  jessica and mikael make it look so easy!  i guess i should have visited kristina first eh?  i promise you i am about ready to crrrraaaaaack.  my husband is going to come home from work and find that i have run away from here, never to return until someone else finishes this dang kitchen!  all i'm getting from him is "you missed this spot, you didn't sand this part, and it's gonna look so nice when it's all done."  gee, thanks babe.  i know he means well.
so, i ditched painting today and met some friends of mine this afternoon for a coffee.

and then i went to target.  and fell. in. love.  look at target trying to be all pottery barn

now i'm a little more motivated to get the kitchen done so i can find a place for those canisters...

what we did this summer pt.1

we spent some time at grandmas in the beginning of the summer.

each of the kids took turns spending a week with jay's parents.  it's something they look forward to every summer.

 

a week at grandma's means a week of playing games, watching movies, eating out, getting treats, and trips to target and the toy store.  camryn got to stay for 2 weeks because she and grandma started a sewing project and made a couple of dresses for her and her american girl dolls.

on father's day jay thought it would be cool to give carter a new haircut in anticipation of the new airbender movie

drew saw the movie and gave us a bad review so we never did see it.
carter wasn't the only one who had some hair adventures.  i experimented with two strand twists on devyn's hair. 

it's a good style for her and it works for me as well.  i can wash and condition her hair, twist it all up, and it will be good for 4-5 days and then i can take the twists out and it will look like this for a few extra days

over it

i am so over itunes.  when my hard drive crashed i lost my entire itunes library.  at first, i thought, "oh well, it's okay- i have my library on my iphone." i just figured that i could transfer my library from my phone to my computer.  i was wrong.  apple frowns upon that idea.  so now i have no way to get my songs back.  well, that's not entirely true.  i could get it back, it just wouldn't be legal. 
anyways, i have pandora now.  i love it.  i can listen to it on my phone and on my computer for free and not have to spend a $1.29 per song unless i want to.  maybe someday i'll rebuild my itunes library (and back it up), but for now, i am living with pandora and loving it.
that's my rant for the day.  over and out.

summer's end

saying goodbye to july feels like the end of summer to me. it's now august and that means trying to get in everything we meant to do over our break but never got to-
like going on vacation! we usually go to lake isabella early in the summer but didn't get to so we are going to big bear this week. i wanted to do some home improvement stuff, painting the kitchen cabinets for one...i just got around to doing it yesterday so i'll be trying to finish that this month also. there are a few other things we didn't get around to but what we did make time for was ice cream.

after returning from big bear the mad rush to go shopping for school clothes and supplies will begin. on one hand, i feel like summer wasn't long enough. on the other hand, i think i will be fine with school starting up again (check with me again in a month on that one. i might have changed my mind!).

i did have the honor of taking some photos for a friend of mine this summer.  i haven't pulled out my camera much for shoots lately.  i sure have missed it!

i said i'd be back, just didn't think i would be this long in trying to give my new old home a new look...
we are having a good summer though, hanging out with family and friends, going places, and such...
i will have to come back with some photos for proof!

after 4 years i find myself here again.  it didn't make sense to pay $10 a month for a blog that i wasn't using on a daily basis plus i have like 3 followers anyway so...here i am.

it's been one of those mornings. you know the kind where it's just one thing after another? that's my day so far. i got few hours of sleep. overturned cereal on the table, followed by a spillage of orange juice. the baby has the worst diaper rash i have ever seen, with blisters (poor guy). neighbors coming over during a chaotic moment and the house is in shambles. it's raining and it's cold. but i am not discouraged. this day has not overtaken me and it is not over. i will take it back. and i will start by getting off the computer. right now.

i really need to remove myself from this computer, but first just wanted to post about the cutest thing. carter said "thank you" for the first time yesterday! i gave him a toy he had been reaching for but couldn't get to, and he said, "dan du" - so sweet!!! he excitedly shakes his head no when he means yes, but we are still working on that one...

i got my tablet to work again, i uninstalled it and reinstalled it, rebooted and everything else i could think of. then it hit me, that i removed the tablet disc from my computer while i was scrapping and had to put it back in to reinstall. now i wonder if that was the problem all along...

off now to tackle laundry and i have also decided to dig into a room a day and deep clean. today it will be the children's bathroom. for dinner we're having tamales! yum! no, i do not make these from scratch. even if i knew how, the time it would take me to make them would be um...not good.
